During President Obama's 2010 visit to India, he declared that India was not an emerging power -- it had already emerged. Was the president being too generous? Professor Arvind Panagariya of Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs offers a no-holds-barred view of India's growth prospects for the next decade and answers the question "What's all the hype about?" Panagariya spoke in December 2010 at "The World Economy in the Next Ten Years," a panel discussion sponsored by the Jerome A. Chazen Institute of International Business and moderated by David Kenner of Foreign Policy magazine.

  • Now this ambition and the urge too see better around us cannot be seen by a professor in US who relies on govt published statatics ( ofcourse other official sources too ). But what you miss is that you cant measure the real GDP of india for a simple reason the majority of the trade happens where a 100% accurate measure of trade cannot be done. So trying to define India and her growth and predicting its future would be better left of to time.

  • This guys try to define all of the things in terms of projections, current statics etc.. What they don't and cant measure is the growing aspirations of 1.5 billion people. last year if i am right 150 Mercedes Benz was was booked in the town of Ahmadabad in a single day. What does it mean. There is a huge market for goods and services. Being a entrepreneure myself i am aware of the changes and opportunities opening up every single day. contd...

  • @M10663 You are wrong buddy, India has been to the moon. Wake up and see. Type the video on youtube - CHANDRAYAN. You'll find out that you're not correct. You must come here some time brother. It has changed alot... believe me. Why would I ever waste my time in lying. All the things I've typed were correct. For more to see, I can email you the URLs of the videos if you need. I've got all the proof that I'm true. See it brother!
