Mr. Magic's (Tony Pearson) first recording ever.
Very rare double-sided (same track on both sides) seven-inch on Magic Records (1980), only 500 copies pressed.
Having no money to hire a band, Mr. Magic rapped for 4 minutes over a breakbeat from Vaughn Mason's "Bounce, Rock, Skate". The initial press of the single sold out within weeks, however, instead of repressing the 7-inch Mr. Magic (following the advice from a promoter who warned him that he might get sued by Brunswick Records for the theft of Mason's hit) had a band replay the music, and then recorded the twelve-inch version of the song, now over 9 minutes long.

  • Ironic how he calls his own song "the punk rock".

The 3rd unheard - CT reppin hard! Where is Mr. Magic today? I know a ton of people would come to see CT's OWN hip hop pioneer do a show, even if he only performed one song. Here's to you, Magic
