Because the light of truth radiantly reflects in the pope's being. I remember when i had my close encounter with pp. John paul my tears just fell you can see a halo all over him and even my noncatholic friends were crying and they too cannot explain the peace that they felt. So powerful.

Pope Benedict has just visited the UK - the first state visit by a Pope to the UK, ever. I have always had a suspicion and fear of Catholicism - something to do with 650 years of the murderous inquisition. But nevertheless I was profoundly moved by Pope Benedict and the real beauty and splendour of the ceremonials. We're pretty good at formal ceremony, but this was something else. At the centre of it all, a simply delightful old man who I instantly loved.
that's nice to hear tweezwanen!..Me too, I feel the same way as yours..

I don't follow any one religion but I must admit that watching Pope Benedict XVI on television and listening to him has stirred up emotions of tears that I cannot explain. I can feel his holiness and purity transmitting hundreds of miles away, and it's as if the Mighty God is trying to tell me something. I wonder if others have felt the same way too
