For my drawing class, we were asked to do a 24-hour drawing on a body-sized piece of paper. The subject of our drawing has to do with the time we were born. In my research, I found that I was more interested in the concept of numbers in general. I was interested in the associations people can have with numbers, and the emotions that can accompany the associations. I noticed, too, that the emotions often accompany numbers even after the association has been forgotten.
So, I researched as many numbers as I could think of. I made rubbings of house numbers with charcoal, photographing each stage as I went. I sequenced the photographs into two videos.
The grid and ready-made numbers can be read as a reference to artist Jasper Johns; the charcoal animation as a reference to artist William Kentridge.

difficult for there to be 10 months from contraception to birth, unless there was a failure of contraception.... ;) perhaps you meant 'conception?'
