i allways wondered what makes that repeating sound the engine or the muffler or something else and what type?

@MxoscarxT the noise your talking about is the "external wastegate" all turbo cars have a wastegate in the exhaust housing of the turbo which releases exhaust gasses to regulate /control boost via a vacuum actuated valve. Most cases they are vented back into the exhaust, but in large high power set ups they vent into atmosphere, hence the noise you hear.

@madrx2 The popping is excess fuel igniting since it dumps fuel at redline when you bounce the limiter, the waste gate opens once and stays open until he either is out of WOT or shifts.
