Installing Windows 7 on Parallels Desktop for Mac version 5

First in a mini series, I'll show you how to set-up and install a Windows 7 virtual machine on Parallels for Mac. Most of the information applies to other OS's as well like Linux.

@nerdpwner3000 Not that I have ever noticed, the VM is contained essentially inside a package/file so it does not effect OS-X.

Thank you!!! I just installed it everything is running smoothly!! one question, I noticed you said you have 2 core dual, so do I but when I installed it did not ask if I wanted to choose the hard drive. Did I miss something?

@floer0312 I think you maybe getting the harddrive and 2 core CPU mixed up perhaps?

If I install this onto my mac can I put in a disk such as Call of duty World at War in my Mac, and run it on windows 7 since it isn't compatible for mac. Can someone please message asap

If you enter the Windows serial key at the very beginning when creating the virtual machine, does it automatically activates/uses the key or does it get activated only at the actual setup?

@floer0312 Any purchased version of Windows should work, yes you need Parallels as well.
