This is a short documentary about life and music in Burkina Faso, a country in Western Africa seen through the eyes of a middle class American. It shows the positive side of Africa that we rarely see: their beautiful musical culture.

  • But pls don't be mistaken Africa is a continent not a place, There are many many totally different cultures, languages, people and histories. And of course countries like Angola, Uganda are much different from Burkina. I often sense that people talk about Africa as if it were a big chunk of land. Many may even think a Senegalese doesn't even speak Wolof but African. It's like if Japanese were speaking 'Asian' or Germans 'European'.

  • @mdinka Thats a very good point. Even within certain so called "countries" in Africa there are very unique and diverse cultures and languages. Thanks for the comment.

  • Excellent. Traveled to Burkina last year and will be moving to Ouaga 2010. Documentary was honest and real. I could feel the heat and smell the awesome African culture. Tremendous Job. Ken

  • Right on man, that was what we were going for. Thanks for the feedback.

  • I live in Bobo Diolausso and it's awesome to see how people have come here and seen things that are truly unique from anywhere else in the world.

  • Thanks dude! Its so great to connect with people of other cultures in a positive way. Also another example of how awesome the internet is. Thanks for commenting!
