@EricFinnerty i hear you. that's when hip hop turned bad, when lyrical content became about material things, instead of ideas about reflection or active lyrics about what the one rapping was going to do. del defiantly does not rap about material things, but instead about ideas, theories, situations, etc. more over topics that involve your "right hemisphere of the brain".
