This piece was used as the theme music for the old "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" TV show in the 1950s. For one season they used a version scored for a bassoon octet (including contrabassoon), which was the best and eeriest version ever! (Played somewhat slower than your version.) It's great to hear it again, thanks for posting.
