Yann Arthus-Bertrand was appointed by the United Nations to produce the official film for the International Year of Forests.
Following the success of Home which was seen by 400 million people, the photographer began producing a short 7-minute film on forests made up of aerial images from Home and the Vu du Ciel television programmes.
This film will be shown during a plenary session of the Ninth Session of United Nations Forum on Forests (24 January - 4 February 2011) in New York. It will be available to all from February 2 -- for free -- so that it can be shown worldwide.

With the voice of EDWARD NORTON.

  • A WitTR song would fit here well.

  • Trees are astounding creations, the intelligence of their form and function resides with their Creator.

  • what a deep video

  • God bless our beautiful planet!!

  • I love forests. It's the most awesome feeling to be walking deep into forests; you can sense a profound living quietness. Here is a quote I recently came across: "Did you know that trees talk? Well they do. They talk to each other, and they'll talk to you if you listen." - Walking Buffalo

  • Love it! Tells it like it is,(something we should already know!) we need trees FULL STOP! I just feel ashamed that it might be to late due to narrow minded Governments. Now the massive issue in my mind is the oceans, they are pretty much done for... What a sad state we are in...

  • Thank you for caring so much about our environment. What a great film. The following links are regarding a very special forest in danger of being logged. I think you will be touched by what you see and understand how important it is. Thank you!

Please google Wildstands or Cortes Island logging petition for the link.

  • when i moved here in september there was a beautiful old growth forest that had been here forever. i fell in love with it, and always tried to walk through it when i was nearby. two weeks after my last visit, i returned to see it hacked down. the trees were left where they fell. today there are stumps as far as the eye can see. it will become a suburb in a town that has hundreds of houses for sale, that are not selling.

  • Wow! Fantastic. Thank you Edward Norton & Leo Dicaprio for getting these essential facts out to the world. We need to protect what we have left and provide alternatives for sustainability now or we'll be doomed.
