I was demonstrating flintknapping at a party when I heard a very enthusiastic woman over my shoulder. She was very eager to try flintknapping for the first time. She is 70 years young and lives in France. She was a delightful student and after easily knocking off her first blade from a kaolin core that was sharp and ready as a perfect knife. She wasted no time moving on to antler work. I would like to travel to France to visit she and her husband, and of course Bernard Ginelli, the master knapper we both admire.

  • well it's not very hard, when you have a done core in your hands and as good material as the one here. But it's good that you show a little bit of blade core technology, most of americans only replicate blades or arrowheads.

  • That is awesome, I have been trying to get a succesful flake for months!! Unfortunately in my part of Az knapping material is very scarce!! Thanks for posting the vids they are very helpful to a novice like me!!
