Man, I can't believe how quick and precise this auto transmission is! Plus, with the extra 5th gear versus the pre '05 stangs, it's definitely a leg up in performance and fuel mileage... Not that fuel mileage means anything when you're modded lol ;) They really have a lot of potential though. Awesome man.

Very true. People don't see the advantages that an automatic has. They just see that you have an automatic and "automatically" judge you as a pussy or something for not getting a stick shift.

From what I hear the fastest auto dragracers just leave it in drive as well. I've often kicked myself for not getting an auto with good stall conv... I may swap an auto in there one day.

The first time I watched I thought I saw it shifting right at redline, around 6k but I see that it's 6.5. The cams really open it up on top, I was floored how much more high-rpm hp I have with them. 7k is no problem, I'm just nervous with the stock springs. They ran it to 7.2k on the dyno though and didn't think it was a problem so...I still set my shiftpoint at 6.8k lol.
wow shifting from 1-2 was great.....are u using stock heads or ported one,do u swap to 4.10 and new stall
thanks

they are stage two ported heads from livernois. at the time it had only 3.73's with a tci stall. it now has 4.10's

You've got some low (stock cam range) shift points. You're probably making great power up to ~7k rpm. My shift light is set to 6.8k. If I had SPR cams it would probably be set to 7k ;-). That's the beauty of aftermarket cams... the guy you're racing with street cams suffocates over 6k rpm while you cruise on by. raise those shift points and take advantage.

yeah i know. its an brenspeed set the shift points for the automatic and they set the redline to 6500. The tune is crap when i get it to a real tuner i will have them set it to shift at 7K . the cams are just coming on line at 6 so i know what you mean but its hard to shift and hold a camera at the same time. hence leaving it in D lol
