Kind of unrelated, but I love the theme to Backstory as composed by Camara Kambon. This clip has a nice longer version of it. Thanks for posting!

Ironic indeed that there's quite a few parallels b/w the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, The Towering Inferno & this documentary. 1) per Wikipedia, the Twin Towers' construction was the inspiration for the 2 novels based on this movie; 2) 2 months after TTI was released, a bad fire broke out in one of the WTC Towers; 3) Steve McQueen's line about the Glass Tower & buildings like it being firetraps that could one day kill 10,000; 4) Filming for TTI completed September 11, 1974

Disaster Movie's like The Towering Inferno save your life if you guy's are trapped
in a burning highrise.

I really like the parts the way they were cast with Paul Newman and Steve McQueen. They were playing the right parts.

The documentary made an error, the world's tallest building in 1974 was not New York City's World Trade Center but rather Chicago's Sears Tower. Still huge irony in the movie's filming completed on 9/11/1974 and they mentioned the World Trade Center about a minute later and the documentary was made in 2001, presumably before 9/11, so there is a lot of creepy irony in this whole documentary!!!!

What did Irwin Allen in was the rise of film makers like Spielberg and George Lucas. Irwin couldn't understand how Star Wars could become one of the biggest films of all time with a cast of unknowns instead of big stars and an obvious love story, and he used the same formula time and again: all you needed were big stars and an obvious love story but the scenarios were becomeing rediculous and the effects (Star Wars was light years ahead of of Allen's films in terms of effects) were abysmal
What a major irony--filming for "The Towering Inferno" was completed on September 11, 1974.
