Boss Battle
Modern
Perfect Chaos
Hard Mode

Song: Open Your Heart (Sonic Adventure; comp. and perf. Crush 40)

Perfect Chaos is notably different from the other bosses in that, while Sonic still has to run up to Perfect Chaos, it sits in one place as Sonic has to navigate some platforming while dodging Perfect Chaos's attacks. This makes this Hard Mode boss battle somewhat different from the others in this respect.

You see, Perfect Chaos is still much the same as he was in normal difficulty. It's the terrain that's become more Sonic-unfriendly. Right off the bat, you'll notice that Sonic has to travel a longer distance, and there are obstacles left and right. In the first 5 seconds alone, there is a ledge Sonic can trip on to make him fall into the water, a sudden slight left in the path, three waterspouts, and Perfect Chaos breaking down a wall right next to Sonic.

After hitting Perfect Chaos once, Sonic will go to what was originally the third path. He starts behind where he'd normally go, though this one is largely hazard-free. It's also mostly free of things to add to your boost gauge though, so it's going to be quite taxing on it. You'll see I had just enough to get Sonic to Perfect Chaos's core. (Remember! If Sonic can no longer boost, he'll sink into the water and lose a life.)

The third path is new ground--it isn't covered in the normal difficulty. This time, Sonic starts pretty high up and he has to be careful to not fall. Luckily, there's a big pile of Rings about halfway through, replenishing the Boost Gauge.

The last hit on Perfect Chaos is much the same as in normal difficulty: Jumping from fragment to fragment of broken asphalt. This time, Perfect Chaos attacks more rapidly and stops fooling around once Sonic gets too close. (Before now, Sonic's biggest hindrance is his rapidly-depleting Boost Gauge; you don't need boost here.) You can tell that Perfect Chaos attacks faster in that I couldn't get Sonic to the next platform before one of them crumbled. No worries though--Sonic got there AS it was crumbling.

You'll notice in how well the music synchronizes with the opening cutscene that "Open Your Heart" was not remixed much for this game. "Open Your Heart" is Super Sonic's theme in Sonic Adventure; it plays during the first part of the Perfect Chaos battle and again during the credits after Super Sonic defeats Perfect Chaos.

  • Typo alert, Overhazard! Last paragraph, with the word "You'l". =)

  • @JayEssGee1 Okay, I'll go fix it. Thank you.

  • I think in the second attack zone you could have homing attacked it's brain from a path above it.

  • @FireSonosuke Where does the path split?

  • @FeatherWings78 Because the remixes were already covered in the normal-difficulty video of mine, and "Open Your Heart" is a song that can be played over any stage in the game. Perfect Chaos's Hard Mode is the most logical choice.

  • I won s rank in this boss in hard mode

  • @DrShadowPrower You're welcome, though it was unintentional.

  • @Overhazard Thank you for the birthday present! :)

  • @Overhazard We're probably going to keep disagreeing with each other so I'm just going to drop it.

  • @Overhazard You haven't defeated my third point where Super Sonic has moved so fast he's transcended time and space. Super Sonic's greatest speed feat was fighting Solaris who simultaneously existed in all timelines. In Sonic Rush the final boss makes black holes that Burning Blaze can escape from. Super Sonic is faster than Burning Blaze. Let's not forget with Chaos Control Sonic can stop time.
