From Andrew Peterson's early album "Carried Along."
I've always loved his music, and all I want to do is to share it with others. I hope and pray you enjoy the music and that it blesses you as much as it has me.

"The Coral Castle"
Late one night I had a notion
An epiphany would be a better word
So I stumbled in the dark down to the ocean
And I pulled my broken heart out of the surf
I had told her I did not have much to offer
And I had told her I would treat her like a queen
But I guess I wasn't worth what I would cost her
So the night has brought me to this coral reef
So down to the water I will come
To raise for her this castle with my hands
And steal away before the morning comes
Cause I don't need her love to love her all I can
So night on night and year on year
Well, I worked until my hands no longer bled
And I let the ocean bear away my tears
So that she would know that I could love her best
And a desert's just a sea without a shore
And a lonely man at worst is still a man
And I ain't gonna cry for her no more
Cause I don't need her love to love her all I can
I often dreamed I saw her face among the people
Who'd come to see the coral fortress I had built
But it may as well have been another seagull
And the castle is there waiting for her still
So down to the water I will come
To wander through this castle on the sand
And steal away before the morning sun
Cause I don't need her love to love her all I can
I don't need her love to love her all I can
@thatMimosaGrove Glad you like it; makes me happy that I posted it knowing that you - and others - are listening and enjoying! :)

@todiefor453 Yeah....that was, more or less, the story my friend - who first introduced me to AP and this song - was telling me. She couldn't remember "everything," but she told me the jist, and it aligns with what you said.
But yes: it's amazing to see what people do in the name of love.

@4Ever4Him1 I first heard this song back in high school, my english teacher played it for the class and told us that it was based on a real story. It is a really touching story, how this man left his home country and the love of his life who rejected him due to status. So he built this coral castle (which can still be seen today in Florida) for her. He charged admission and now it's a curious tourist spot. It's just amazing the power that love can have and how empowering it can be to us.

@todiefor453 I'm happy to hear how you can connect to this song. It is rather sad, yet there is a beauty about it. Sorry for your loss, whatever may be happening right now. : ( I'm glad, though, you can find comfort in music.
Interestingly enough, my friend & I were discussing this song, and she was telling me how Andrew wrote this song based off of a true story. I don't remember all of the details, but if you are interested, you should look into the story behind the song, literally. : )

This song is uncannily similar to my current situation with one of the most important people in my life. It's a sad and lonely comfort, but speaks a truth to me that is undeniably at least a little uplifting.
