As you can see, bedrock areas emits particles similar to smoke, and it is much darker than regular dungeons.

  • @sciencoking Notch stated that in the 1.8 update you get less visibility as you get nearer to bedrock.

    This map has been around since alpha, and it's about 4 blocks above the void.

    Someone also stated that the smoke particles are emitted by the void, not the bedrock.

  • So, do you have an idea what these smoke particles are supposed to depict? Is the ground smoking because you reach the earth's core?
