From The Roar of the Greasepaint -- The Smell of the Crowd, here's one short, but sweet Show-Stopper! This is from the genius of Mr. Newley, and Leslie Bricusse. Also, this was the introduction, (one song,) of Mr. Gilbert Price! Given the concept of the show, Mr. Newley determined that Mr. Price was not suited for his character of the performer who had only one solo piece. After having heard Gilbert's voice, he immediately changed his mind. Corny to say, but "the rest is history!" Meanwhile, listen to lovely Joyce Jillson, and wonderful Mr. Newley sing their "love song!"

  • Anthoney Newley is sorely missed. He was such a talent:singer, actor and composer he did it all. His songs, written with Lelie Bricusse stand the test of time. RIP Tony!

  • @Loejyrrab Rest in Peace! He really was a "Renaissance Man!" There were few artistic worlds he couldn't conquer. Those areas that dealt with art, voice and music were his best, and well-known domains. We're the lucky ones, since he shared so much with us. Thank you so much for your kind remarks!

  • very fine-

  • @hswatnik Thanks so much for your comment! Happy New Year!

  • Gilbert Price isn't singing on this song - this is a duet between Newley and Jillson.

  • @saturnaspider Hi saturnaspider This is definitely a duet with Newley and Jillson. I merely included the name, and photo of Mr. Price as he played a small, but integral part in this production. I never meant to indicate that he accompanied Ms. J and Mr. N. on this number. I apologize for the confusing wording.

  • @varadero1839 Thanks for your reply. I am 67 yrs old. I have loved Newley since the early 60's when 1st I heard his musicals. He was well appreciated in my whole family. There are some nice vids on You Tube of Newley appearing in the very old Hugh Hefner show. BTW, I visited your channel and I will be listening to maestro Iturbi play the piano. I wil be visiting again soon. I felt very comfy there. All the best, Joel Barry.
