International Driving Permits are not accepted in China, so a local licence must be obtained... or so they thought. I was itching for a drive, but don't have time to waste on red tape, so I just stayed on the country roads. This 70's design Santana is still being built new in China and is one of the top sellers.

  • i just love the vw santana, reliable, good mpg, comfortable, and an icon of china, especially shanghai, where it has been the common taxi.

  • Nice it has the Yunnan Province licence place, I grew up in Kunming, I seen and rode many taxis and cars like!

  • I'm Chinese, too! My parents are from shanghai and the taxi cabs do drive this car today, too! Can't understand it.
