In his questions today at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Afghanistan, Senator Dick Lugar asked the United Kingdoms Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs David Miliband why there has been a positive change reported in Afghan public opinion concerning the United States in the last six months. He also asked about the sentiment within the Afghan government of the rejection of cabinet officials, if a system of checks and balances was being established and about the debate within the British Parliament about financial support for the Afghanistan government.
