no one wouldve even known who barbaro was if smarty jones didnt capture the nation with his triple crown bid in 2004. also the belmont was his only loss, and theres a conspiracy idea out there they the jockeys tried to sabotage him. but barbaro was an amazing horse too, he just got a bad break. but i think smarty wouldve won.

I'm sorry but you're all ridiculous for arguing over this. It's impossible to say who would've won. And quite frankly it doesn't matter. There's no point comparing them. None. Both were brilliant racehorses and both have their place in history.

@jmdnarri you can't compare times on two different track conditions. On was a sloppy track. The only accurate comparison would be if track conditions were were the same. Also take into account post positions and racing room.

They are both great race horses but barbaro has a slight edge because he was more versitile. He ran on turf
