Now because they can't recruit enough .... the Obama admin is thinking of mandatory service. They won't call it the draft but it will be mandatory for all 18 to 25 year olds... the are thinking of raising it to 40.

If you think that the NCLB is a Republican thing, you are sadly mistaken. Sen Kennedy is one of many Dems who helped draft the NCLB. And for recruiters calling you, just tell them you arent interested. If you think you are that special to the recruiter, you have way to high standards of yourselves. Just curious, were did the guy get the stats that less than a third of people in the military get money for school? When you are in you get up to 100% TA and can get the GI Bill after you get out. ???

Want smart education?

Then empower kids to learn how to be entrepreneurs early on in life. Schools should teach the subject, after all these kids are either going to work for a company (profit or non profit) or create their own path by owning businesses. Let's really teach them real life lessons. Why do we still have to follow the industrial age style of education while we are in digital, service- oriented age?

the important thing to teach kids today is the fact that they wont be able to get a fucking JOB after 100000 education at their fucking prestigious scientific world renound university with a fucking advanced degree in chemistry not no child left behind.

I'm glad there are groups like the counter-recruitment organizations. The military recruiters are invading the high schools.  I see it happening in AZ. They go after the poor and disillusioned, always have. I almost pity the corrupt wealthy and powerful leaders because imagine what would happen if the rest of us just woke up to all the lies and abuse. A civil war in this country is not impossible. I hope this message keeps going.

As a veteran, I'd say don't join. Everyone has to decide for themselves. I did get my college money, though. What if everyone who's enlisted decided to quit the military on the same day? We need good defense but sending children out to kill or be killed is a bad idea.

So they stretch the truth a little, big deal. You people don't really expect the government to be entirely honest with you, right?
