No comments about the quality of the video or the audio. I am perfectly aware of it so you don't need to tell me!. The sun was low which affected the video and the wind messed up my audio. You don't like it, don't watch it, its your choice.

  • Nice video, ye got fairly well sunk. And it just shows, any breakage in the skin of the soil can lead to chaos! Sorry though, I don't get the Ibiza music because this is anywhere but

  • @camerandpick Ibiza music?... well I have to cater for the demographic that will watch this!

  • you have a fair investment in that little operation! Do you have to turn and lift it by hand, or do you have a machine? Producing peat is harder than making hay! It is so weather dependant plus here (in Scotland) the rates depatment rates your peat bog as 'industrial' and you need planning permission, involving SEPA etc. Waste of time. Making money is easy, but all the red tape and taxes in life just keep making the wall higher!!!??

  • Just cut it on contract, up to the customer to get it dried, which is usually done by hand, yes. Laws are tightening up on cutting turf, mainly for conservation reasons, nothing to do with red tape or paperwork or that

  • i may be stupid but what do they use this for?

  • burn it as a domestic heating fuel, the same as logs or coal

  • @peteacher52 This is far more decomposed than the product you are on about, the top later of Peat Bogs in Ireland are used for same purpose..or is your badly stuff 'Brown' turf..which is pretty much crap as a fuel.

  • A most interesting 2-part video. I never imagined that burnable peat was harvested mechanically, let alone on this scale. Parts of New Zealand are reasonably plentiful in sphagnum moss which as it rots, turns into a crumbly, almost powdery peat that is used as a soil conditioner. Other forms of fuel are plentiful here, so I don't know if anyone has ever had the need to burn it. We live and learn every day! Cheers.
