Love the long form. Plays like a mini movie!

This opening, while much preferable to its disastrous "disco" predecessor, seems overlong, pretentious, cluttered, and--like GL itself at the time--unfocused. Though not objectionable, the score sounds suspiciously like something left over from G. Kobe's TEXAS cupboard.

The best GL ever had. That sunburst background was just gorgeous -- the title design including the spark over the "i" was brilliant also. It was just so rich and elegant for the 80's. Did anyone notice the background image changed somewhat on the closings as instead of the sunburst background it became more of a glittering, turning jewel, but still INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL?

It's kinda ridiculous, because even if the replaced soaps with game shows, they would still be losing money and nobody would be watching it anyway... so why not sontinue airing GL? if not they should just shut down CBS daytime completely

If Guiding Light kept up with the great stories and families of the 80's and early 90's it would NEVER have been cancelled. Most people I know would still record/dvr soaps if they kept the great stories and not try to cram these new characters who nobody cares about down our throats!

This theme is very sweet!! Kinda romantice, veryyyyy soap-opera oriented. If and when I ever get married I would like this to be played for the first dance. I mean the entire long closing verision. Tooooooo beautiful ! !

These credits are just beautiful. The collection of images from every part of town, the feeling of family and friendship.
