Use a little common sense, Nissan is not going to place a heavy 20 yr old engine into a brand new chassis. The VR38 uses the same architecture as the VQ30DETT used in the 03 GT500 GT-R / 04-06 GT500 Z... plus it's more compact and has better F/R distribution anyway

350z vs evo9

... if any of you had any real knowledge of nissan engines youd know about the VQ line of engines and im not talking about the 3.5 litre in the 350z im talking about the 3 litre vq30det , for a little info, its a v6 turbo engine that can make over 500+hp with 2 mods, #1 new injectors #2 a big turbo , and thats with stock internals! and it has a hell of alot more torque than a rb26! now before you go ranting the irrelevance of this , the engine in the r35 is based off of this bad boy

Nissan has lied continually about their GTR, supplied ringers for review, and said the 09 GTR broke the record at the ring when in fact the 09 GTR wont run anywere near that.
-
It probably would with stronger cam heads
-
yeah but lets see when you try modding it ... will hold up like the old inline 6 ?
-
dustin, the RB26 was a great engine (aside from low oil pressure with age) however it was an engine designed over 20 years ago... the new GTR engine is up at 3.8 litres in capacity, it was unnecessary to rev the engine hard to make power. A long stroke V6 makes great torque.
furthermore, a v6 is half as long as an inline six and consequently you can achieve a better F-R weight balance with a V6.
If you've looked at the specs, you'll realise that the VR38DETT is way better... Your Stupid.

It's still quicker than the older stock model GTRs regardless of engine orientation.

Why?
sounds like the race car is holding back abit...:P
