A team of Purdue students has turned an undergraduate design project into a sturdy, portable, spacious, easily assembled shelter for homeless families suffering in the aftermath of disasters like the earthquake in Haiti.

  • and it looks like great shelter for the huricane season

  • good shelter

  • It looks like a hunk of junk.

  • Cool concept! Good job!

  • This looks similar to Vitruvian construction concept of using foam panels supported by metal studs... I think you have a strong product that could be marketed as a permanent structural solution, if you design something that can interconnect them like modules of a community, and plan to cover the surface with stucco to fire proof it. See the vitruvianbuilt com website for examples. I'd like to also suggest planning for community methane digester septic systems to provide a kitchen burner fuel.

  • Well done, love the idea. i hope they keep up the good work.
