  • Hey guys IBM researchers have succesfully store 1 bit of magnetic information on just 12 iron atoms using antiferromangnetism and a scanning tunneling microscope. Conventional disk drives use about 1 million atoms to store 1 bit of magnetic information. This means that with 1 million atoms of mass you can save 10,416.6 bytes of information (according to my calculations) where 1 byte can either be a decimal number or a single letter.
