Nicholas is not the "wow" in this video. The "wow" comes from the heart of his fellow swim team members.
Nicholas has autism . . . some would say, severe on the autism spectrum. Nicholas also has great friends, thanks to his swim team.
See a clip of his swim meet experience. Nicholas is in lane #1. He wears fins, since he loves to sit on the bottom of the swimming pool and this keeps him from doing so. His one on one parapro is Ali. She is great with Nicholas. Nicholas is learning to do flip turns without stopping. You'll hear his friends on the deck encourage him to "flip, don't stop."
It takes a little longer for Nick to get started, but his friends are amazing and so patient.
Many thanks to everyone who made this experience possible!
Recorded on December 13, 2007 using a Flip Video camcorder.
