@omienice I'm not certain but if you can find special markings on a period 1911 you should be able to trace it's history. The serial numbers may also be traceable on the gun to see where it's been.

Just a minor point to avoid confusion. The "man spring" on a 1911 is the spring at the lower rear of the grip that operates the hammer, inside the small housing that forms the lower part of the grip backstrap. The large spring under the barrel is the recoil spring

Quick question on 1911 barrel cleaning versus Glock. On your Glock cleaning video, you generously spray Ballistol all over the barrel inside and out, let sit, then wipe down later. Do you do the same Ballistol procedure with a stainless steel 1911 barrel? Thanks in advance.
