Dekalb County is spending over a million taxpayer dollars, cutting down 1000 trees, and irreparably damaging Atlanta's second oldest, largest, intact, mature hardwood forest sanctuary without community approval. Join the Three Forks Heritage Alliance in their efforts to stop the Path of Shame. Go to www.3forksalliance.org for more information.

  • just kill the guys on the tractors. problem solved.

  • Way to go Judge Adams! FINALLY some sense to this mess!

  • Now the work has been stopped. Judge Adams did a good job.

  • Brave to get footage of these tree dozer guys! Dekalb, like many others, sees greed for profit as a very good reason for anything. The equation does not include longer range thinking than the payoff, then cut losses and be legally elsewhere when it hits a fan.Greed is good somehow. Overcharged construction concrete after wide clear cut really helps trees die and the slope is still too steep for anyone with impaired movement.

  • Zmrotu: Mason Mill Park is a Dekalb County Park, not a private park. Perhaps you've missed the multiple tennis courts, picnic areas, concrete trails, dog park. The forest was the only area with natural trails. Not wheel-chair friendly, but the new concrete road will require a motorized chair to go the distance. Oh, but PATH denies motorized wheelchairs! So you'll have to push your chair in the sun because the 100 yr old trees are gone. Shrubs? Only in your head. Guess you didn't watch the video.

  • Nmrotu: Perhaps you didn't know but Mason Mill Park is a Dekalb County Park, not a private park. Perhaps you've missed the multiple tennis courts, picnic areas, the dog park and the concrete trails already in this park. The only area not easy for wheelchairs is the forest, which has natural trails. To use the new concrete trail, you'll need a motorized wheelchair to go the distance. Oh, but PATH denies motorized wheelchairs on its trails. And shade is gone from 100 yr. old trees being cut.

  • The citizens of Dekalb co. already have access the Mason Mill forest. Only young people on bikes will be able to use the area now because without the trees it is too hot for seniors. Also, fewer trees and more heat adds to global warming.

  • Who Profits from this? The citizens of Dekalb Co. and the State of Ga. By increasing access to these areas many who would normally not have access to YOUR PRIVATE forest will soon be able to join you on bikes and wheel chairs and on foot. Some who cannot hike the rough terrain will finally have access. Sharing is not so bad. And most of those trees you are screaming about are nothing but scrub and weed trees. Besides nature will heal itself of the marks of man in short order I am sure.

  • I have walked in the forest almost every week for 10 years. My quality of live has been greatly improved by being so close to nature. It breaks my heart to see such a beautiful and natural area destroyed and paved over. Who is profiting from this????

  • We have lived in this area for 5 yrs now. This was such a great area to run dogs and take walks in. Now this completely unneeded path is going in and it makes me sick to see this kind of wasteful destruction. Who is profiting from this?
