The growth of intercollegiate lacrosse, a sport previously considered a regional phenomenon, has been steady, yet inconspicuous. That is until last week, when Princetons Head Coach Bill Tierney announced he was leaving the Tigers after 22 years to accept a head coaching position at the University of Denver. So, why did Tierney decide to make the move? What impact will his decision have on the future growth of the sport and what does he hope to accomplish in Denver?
Find out in this exclusive interview with the lacrosse legend.
Right on. Coach Tierney has been the most influential coach in NCAA lacrosse. It's honerable of him to leave a program that has produced a countless number of championships and take a Coaching Job in the midwest to spread lacrosse out west. His contributions to the overall growth of Lacrosse are un-matched. I attended a Princeton Lacrosse camp years ago, and met him. Lacrosse is getting so big...its AWESOME!
