OK I hope you all are happy now. I just corrected it to say only "legendary" and not original!!!!

This is not the original group. The original was called Empire Brass Quintet; they eventually dropped Quintet off the name.

There are 2 original members here: Smedvig and Pilafian. The other original members were Charlie Lewis on trumpet, David Ohanian on French Horn, and I can't remember the trombone player's name, nor can I find it-he was replaced by Scott Hartman.

Jeff Curnow was even better as a second trumpet.

IMHO, Smedvig - the best musician to ever play trumpet (compare his version of the Bach Suite #2 to Andre's), Morrison, the only EBQ 2nd player to actually sound good playing next to Smedvig, Hartmann - unbelievable player on those EBQ recordings.

Smedvig couldn't carry Andre's case.

You got that right!! Not to mention he has a large ego, so it seems.

I believe Andre uses a gig bag so you may be right.

Was this around 1988? Great performance by the EBQ that inspired me so much!
