This edited clip is from a live broadcast of WIS-TV's "Knozit-Land" show. I believe this aired in 1975. The Knozit show aired live Monday through Friday and was taped with children on the set for Saturday and Sunday. In it's early years, "Knozit-Land" won a Peabody Award. Mr. Knozit is retired but his alias, Joe Pinner, still does the weather at WIS-TV on a part time basis. By the way, the young guy in the clip is Steve Griggs and the girl is Mary Leath. I think you can see how much input we "Little Helpers" had on the show. The crew was frequently featured in front of and behind the cameras.

  • Mr Knozit... and Deputy Dog cartoons... Saturday mornings haven't been the same since. Why must time march so relentlessly on.

All local TV stations do now are Newscasts or news related talk shows. I thank God I came along when we did more entertainment type shows on the local level. We had a lot of fun behind the scenes at WIS-TV and I'm forever grateful for the experience.

  • Yea that brings memories back to me as well. You know I don't think Joe Pinner being in such the public eye has ever been talked about to much.I am surprised he never became a politician.I think he is really a good guy.

  • One thing Joe taught me was to treat everybody the same. He was as genuine on camera as off. I'd vote for him!

  • I was on the Mr. Knowzit show in 1973 with my cub scout pack!!

  • Oh man, does that ever take me back. I would have been 11 in 1974, and I remember that set like it was yesterday. I also remember that rendition of the birthday song, and Mr. Knozit with his baton. Good stuff. Do you have very many more of these old clips? My wife was on the show as a child.
