  • @Htown20XX You are correct when the person is an athlete. Most of us are just regular folks and we are too fat. BMI is a reasonable way to help a person know what they need to do. Body Fat measurement by electrical impedance is better and dexa as you know is the gold standard. A person doe not need 9% body fat to be healthy just much lower than the 30% most of us are carrying around. BMI works as a talking point, not because it is perfect. Thanks for watching and for commenting.

  • Bmi is flawed. According to it I have a 34 bmi and am obese even though my fat is around 9% (dexa). My insurace charges me more I sent the dexa results and photos their response was "bodybuilders are fat" I was insulted

  • @ART1975CZ It is easy to have a strong opinion with no evidence to back it up. BMI is imperfect, sort of like you. You have a great site, all about Georgia. I don't like Georgia, I could say "Georgia is a crappy state". I would be expressing an emotional opinion with no facts or evidence, just like you. Come back again when you can contribute some facts, they are welcome. How is BMI "wrong" is a good starting point.

  • BMI IS WRONG !

  • @u2hubbard For athletes I would agree, for most Americans it is probably overly generous since their body fat %,even if they are thin is likely too high. For the military and well conditioned athletes, I agree it is inaccurate. No tool for analysis can be applied to every person, the application has to be individualized to be of benefit.

  • The BMI is way off.
