Netflix separates DVD and streaming services even further

Netflix is in trouble. Its stock dropped dramatically last week after announcing it will likely lose 1 million subscribers.

Many blame this year's sudden price hike. CEO Reed Hastings apologized to customers for his lack of explanation.

The apology came ahead of another change. Netflix is splitting streaming entirely from its DVD program, which will be renamed Qwikster.

Hastings claims the split will allow Netflix to focus more on future technologies, unlike other companies.

They've already hit a PR snag. Pot-smoking student Jason Castillo already uses the @Qwikster Twitter handle.

@MrMitchy24 Because the content streamed is not necessarily the same as the content offered via DVD. I have both services and the selection offered via DVD is much higher in quality, compared to a lot of the crap they offer via stream.
