Known today for their appliances, Admiral once made TV sets and stereo systems, too. Here is the spoken introduction and a few selections from their mid 1960s demo LP. Whoever bought this stereo system must've also bought an Admiral 25 inch TV set to go along with it, judging by the sticker affixed to the album cover.
does anyone know where I can get this on vinyl? I remember my parents having this album when I was 6 years old and I used to play it over and over... this album got me interested in music. my email is canadahockey@comcast.net if anyone can get me a copy of this in vinyl or cd
Great demonstration! This album can also be played on my GE Wildcat and it sounds the same. I love the way Admiral manufactured stereo consoles that came with the demonstration record. I also have the soundtrack to "Fantasia" released in 1957 as a 3-LP set and it was the first Disney LP released in stereo, and it was sounding great on any stereo consoles, portables and many others.
For the first song I thought I was listening to a Protracker MOD file, but remembered back then in the 1960s they had the stereo effect much more pronounced than the 4 bit 32kHz Mono center-panned mush they have today. No, really, the music DID sound better then than now, and not just because they didn't have rap or boy bands back then.
OMG that record and sleeve look BRAND NEW. Awesome. Love the record, very a-la-Ken Nordine on the RCA Victor Sounds in Space LP. This must be mid 60s you're right, as they are extolling the virtues of solid state (and bashing tubes! LOL) Great vid, thanks.
It almost looks like a '60s to '70s Decca label. But by looking at the little print on the bottom, I can see RCA Victor.
Speaking of Admiral, our first A/C was one, possibly made at the time when that record was made. It was light blue. You could see a fan on one side to blow air outside. The other side, where the cool air comes in, has some little circle inside big circle design (I don't know how else I could describe it). It also had an ON/OFF switch hanging by a wire for the compressor.

Wow. That record is pristine. My guess is that the record came with a TV Stereo combo console.
