They go slow through Folkston because the dispatcher crosses him over from Track #2 to track 1 here due to it being a 45 mph switch while the one north of here at Burch is only a 25 mph switch.
Of course I've never seen the any Amtrak train go through Folkston faster than 25 mph.

Correction on the engines. I meant 2 P-32s (Genesis locos).

The longest (current day) Auto Trains have about 49-50 cars. The longest one I've seen had 49 cars with 16 Superliner cars and 33 autoracks. The shortest consist I've seen had 16 Superliner cars and 14 autoracks. I've also seen 3-engines used before (rarely). 2 GP-38/40s and 1 Dash-8.

I've never noticed the little red and green lights near the doors. Does anyone know what they mean?

i think that train could at least rate 1 SD80MAC, AC6000CW or SD90MACII and still go at 60-70 MPH

Its short enough to have just 1 engine if thats all it could have. After all, they are 4,000 HP engines. It just would be longer to speed up.

Long train, with just 2 locomotives. Good video

Really not sure. The engineer could of had a restricted signal also, which would have slowed the train down.

is that why its going so slow?
The one Amtrak train that pulls more cargo cars than passengers cars lol.

36 cars, thats pretty short. Before, the consist averaged about 50, and they were different heights to accomadate the SUV and trucks. Very Impressive to see it now. But I kinda like it when there was a mixture of size and paint schemes. It add character to the totality of the image. We caught it pulling out of Sanford 20 minutes early. Really a sight to see. Thanks for the video.
