Players begin the scene as if they are standing in front of a bank of pay telephones. The first player steps up to a phone, calls someone, and begins a conversation that relates to the suggestion from the audience. After the tone and rhythm of the conversation is established, player 2 does the same thing. Player 1 fades out of the conversation for a while. After player 2 is established, player 3 calls someone, etc. This process continues until all the players are on the phone. At this point, players trade the focus of the scene back and forth, using words, phrases, emotions, etc from each other's conversations in order to temporarily take the focus of the scene. Gradually, each player hangs up. The scene should be played like a chamber music piece: volume changes, speed of conversation changes, rapidity of people taking focus changes, etc.
