I don't know much about commercial fuel but when you mix your own, the most expensive and problematic ingredient is ether. This was an attempt to see how little you can get away with. It runs well at full throttle but the idle goes under compressed as illustrated by the need to adjust till the RPMs smooth out. Next to try is zero ether and also 10%
Note that as I advance the throttle, the high end is now somewhat over compressed as illustrated by the drop in top end RPM
ADDENDUM:
Further running and testing of the .40, the .25 and the .15 indicates that like most diesels, the larger Norvels need to be slightly overcompressed to get them started. Once they come up to temperature, the compression has to be backed off a bit. This is likely due to the greater mass of the larger engines. They need more time to come up to running temps. The smaller engines have so little mass, they heat up right quick before the compression has a chance to notice.
