Dearly Beloved is one of the most simple, delicate, yet beautiful pieces from Kingdom Hearts -- making it very easy to improvise on! This video in particular is my third attempt to arrange this piece for youtube (the first originally posted on my deceased account kyle556 now in limbo, and the second being Dearly Beloved 2008).

This time around I decided to start with a long introduction that gradually builds into a monstrosity of sound, into the exposition of the main melody. That being said, this arrangement is highly based on more advanced technique, with an ornamental yet flashy flair. If you are looking for a more traditional sound, listen to my Dearly Beloved 2008 video, if you are looking for a combination of the two listen to my Dearly Beloved 2010 video on a Yamaha baby grand piano!

I hope you enjoy!

Your Pianist and Composer,
Kyle Landry

This arrangement has been transcribed into sheet music and is available for download on my website.

  • I hope you people realize that 7:06 is ~!@#$%^& RIDICULOUSLY &^%$#@!~ hard........ i'm not saying the rest is easy... but both hands need to be completely in sync, each hand hitting different notes keeping different positions, jumping from chords to chords. As for 7:40, that is a shit load of arpeggios that can REALLY kill your hand especially after 8:49 of that shit.

Really kyleandry, good job. Props to that.

  • @Bboy1Horizon Drod actually transcribed that part a bit innacurately. The right hand is doing some sort of tuplet. The notes are E,G,C,E,E,G,C,G,E,E etc. The double E makes it a lot easier because you can go from finger 5 to 1 really fast. The left hand is just doing a regular arpeggio though. The right hand arpeggio is similar to the one at the end of my "Graduation" piece.

  • call me a party pooper, but i believe that this version of Dearly Beloved strays a little bit too far away from the original version, specifically with that near three minute intro... Its amazing, dont get me wrong, but i dont think that its as amazing as the original. Anyone else care to place input? id love to hear what everyone else is thinking

  • @GooleyMadness The intro is only a bit over a minute long and it features the main motive of the piece scattered around a bed of sound, which was my intention. To create an atmospheric sort of sound that grows into the main melody in literal form. I was just adding some style to it. I am not trying to play the original version. I have already done that too many times.

  • Hey Kyle, just want to thank you for the advice on that part. I've been learning the song and I'm up to that part and I saw that it's much harder the way the other guy wrote it! Thanks for the help! Keep playing, if it's what you love doing. I can definitely relate to that! And once again, great job on this vid. I'm blown away every time I see it!
