Provocative short documentary about an Artificial I Intelligence scientist called Dr Hugo De Garis. When I made this film for Discovery Channel in 2000 he was one of the leading figures in this field. As well as a passion for this technology, he had profound concerns about it uncontrollable potential. Enjoy.

Nah, there is nothing mad, his conclusions are just totally flawed.

If he really thinks, that as a human, the most important thing would be to preserve your own biological shortcommings, 'natural' bodys with their protein machinery and flaws within it, he just fails.

Our biology is not that different from other great apes and our brains are not vastly different from those of our stone age ancestors.

Whats to preserve is not the hardware, but the software, our history, thoughts, ideas, dreams.
