why not just mod the connection at the new battery instead of routing the wires outside the transmitter case?

Cool mod but buyin rechargeable niMh AA batteries is easier.

instead of doing a high-dollar mod like this, and having to remember to charge them, or constantly replacing alkaline AA's -- for the last year or two I have been using the new "lithiun" energizers AA's, and have had them in both of my radios for over a year and am still getting over 11v out of them.
