i'm sure someone has mentioned this but: you could have taken pawn with queen. rook takes queen. promote pawn to queen check. white blocks with knight. queen takes knight. checkmate.

If you guys are wondering. Why he didn't see the fastest checkmate. It's simply because he didn't need to look any further. First thing that came to mind was. Oh. i take the knight and he's done. So he simply did it... Also. In tournament. *eat* is much more common then i *captured* ... (well everywhere) actually... (also im a 1950) i saw queen take first..

Yeah, adding to the Rb1+ ideas:
If 1...Nxb1 2.c1=Q #
