http://www.sparkpe.org/ - The childhood obesity epidemic in America is a BIG problem. Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled; and nearly one third of children in America are now overweight or obese. This video focuses on one of the solutions - getting kids moving in school- and explains why Quality Physical Education can play such an important role in ending this epidemic.

Thank you all! As with most video, it's a combination of things...myself and the other graphic artist here, Fred, did the illustrations mostly in Illustrator...there's some Photoshop work to make it RGB ready, but the majority of it was assembled in Final Cut Pro. I'm very comfortable with FCP...did a couple of effects with After Effects, but mostly FCP. I hope you spread the word! And thanks!

Though i'm not overweight and actually quite tall and lean,I still disagree with your comment. This video shows us the facts about childhood obesity, and makes people want to become healthy. It seems to me you're in denial and will not accept the facts. Also, EVERYONE has a chance to work out. You can do push-ups, jumping jacks, or anything physical; people don't always get fit because of fancy exercise equipment. Seriously, stop eating spicy hot cheetos or whatever and try to become healthy.

Even if you do have longer PE, it will not do much for you. It all comes down to your genes. I have been taking PE all of my life, and I see that there are others (Including myself) who do not seem to lose weight. I am not saying that PE is useless, but more focus should be put on food rather than PE.

Fuck this video. (Coming from an 'overweight child) all this does, it makes the whole thing worse. This is stupid. Where it says the things it causes, it only makes children MORE depressed. This doesn't help anything. Some children literally don't get a chance to work out for various reasons. So posting a depressing video like this, foes NOTHING but fuck out lives up more.

GETTING KIDS TO MOVE MORE WILL NOT FIX THIS! ....unless carbohydrates are removed from the diet almost entirely.... with the exception of some leafy greens. Feed fruits as a garnish due to their sugar content. Natural sugar you say? It doesn't matter. The body processes it the same way. Fruit keeps fat kids FAT!

When fat was removed from the diet back in the 1980s, it was replaced with sugar in various forms. THIS IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF MOST OBESITY. Fat should have never been removed from the diet, it is not harmful. This came right out of junk science of the 1980s. You have been lied to.

Physical education classes should be restored to the schools, but will do NOTHING to curb the obesity epicemic. Exercise is good for the body but it actually increases appetite somewhat, it does not lower it.... another lie from the so called "experts"
