As national and local leaders plan the transformation of the delivery of health services through the adoption of health information technology (HIT), stakeholders are still uncertain as to how Federal stimulus monies will flow and ultimately impact Georgia strategies, plans, policies, and economy.
This event brings together key national, state, and local leaders to provide insight into the HIT provisions within the American Recovery And Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) ---- specifically how ARRA is expected to accelerate the adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), and other technologies in physician offices, hospitals and other care settings. Also represented is the role and views of additional key stakeholders including public health, employers, and payors. The ARRA provides the largest influx of money from the Federal government for HIT.

This program features Commissioner Dr. Rhonda Medows, from the Georgia Department of Community Health, who presents the strategic vision for how the state of Georgia is planning to use HIE and HIT to advance the health of Georgians. This event culminates with success stories from Georgia and across the country, including interactive roundtable discussions that address lessons learned, economic feasibility, long-term financially sustainable models, and suggested community next steps.
