It's amazing to see sheep bring so much at auction, here in Upstate NY they pretty much are just a hobby now, source of meat and pasture maintenance, people are lucky if the cost of shearing is less than what the wool brings at auction. A century and a half ago we had waterpowered textile mills in every community, and hills covered with sheep. Now we have trees, brush and a few scattered surviving dairy farms.
