Yoda, the world-famous four-eared cat rescued by Ted and Valerie Rock, has led a charmed life ever since Ted and Valerie came across Yoda at a bar where owners couldn't find anyone willing to take the strange looking little kitten, the last of his litter still looking for a home. Bar patrons had passed the kitten from hand to hand, calling him "devil cat" and "Beelzebub", much to the concern of Ted and Valerie. When Yoda nestled on Ted's shoulder, he was captivated by the strange looking little creature, and the rest is history. Valerie's son, Glenn Olsen posted photographs of the new family member on flickr.com, and almost instantly attracted the attention of Barcroft Media, followed by the AP, People Magazine, National Geographic for Kids, and others. Yoda's fame has reached around the world. Recently, Animal Planet filmed Yoda and his owners at an appearance at the Downers Grove Public Library, where he was greeted by local fans of all ages. The whole family is to appear on Animal Planet's new show "Must Love Cats" to be hosted by John Fulton, premiering in 2011. Yoda's fame may have sparked in part from the association with "Star Wars", George Lucas' sci fi film series, but the public interest in this otherwise ordinary cat has continued pretty much unabated since Glenn Olsen posted his photographs of the then six-month old cat, more than four years ago. Who knows what would have happened to this odd looking kitten back in 2006, when bar patrons reacted with such suspicion to the kitten that Ted and Valerie found so appealing. Luckily for him, they broke their vow to have no more cats when they decided then and there to take him home. Now, they simply roll with the unrelenting waves of his fame that continue to bring media to their door to meet the most famous resident of Downers Grove, Illinois. Ted and Valerie have set an example for everyone, that following an impulse to do something kind for another creature could be the most rewarding thing a person may do.

  • I have to agree with you - and he has a beautiful spirit too, as do his owners.
