Pope Benedict XVI this morning received Ambassador Laurence Argimon-Pistre, the head of the diplomatic delegation of the European Union, who was presenting her letters of credence.
On January 9, Pope Benedict received the diplomatic corps accredited to the Holy See. In his speech on that occasion, the Pope said that to get out of the current economic crisis and to build peace in the world, you have to put the human person at the centre. Currently, the Holy See maintains diplomatic relations with 179 countries, plus several international institutions.
