The first ever Artomatic 500 cardboard car race was held as part of the month-long Artomatic 2008 event in Washington, DC on June 1, 2008. The rules were simple. Each participant had to create a car out of a cardboard box, use his/her creativity to design and decorate the car, then race the car on a patch of sidewalk outside the Artomatic building. The car had to be powered with human legs--no motors of any kind were allowed. Cardboard trophies were awarded to winners in a variety of categories. I can't really describe this event any further than that because words alone cannot do it justice. You have to watch this video to see what really happened.
