the phone calls from home are easy to make but still a little scary when you start out! But try it!

calls have limited value IMO. people hate cold calls that interupt their lives. even hard core supporters like me. there's no subsitute for in-person rallies, BBQ's, town hall meetings, etc. Obviously Obama cannot appear at every event, but a hands on approach by volunteers, is far more effective than a cold call on the phone. peace

It is true that phone calls don't persuade many voters directly, and that a hands-on approach is best. However, the information gained from calls - who the candidate supports, what issues are important to them, etc. - is crucial. This information is submitted to the campaign through databases and allows the campaign to send targeted mailings based on the issues of importance to the voter. Also, supporters will be called on election day in get out the vote efforts.
