The worst thing to happen to Pensacola is Hopkins closing down. Fried chicken day was the best. If you don't know you will never know. You just can't explain an experience like Hopkins.
Home sweet home. Well, I grew up in Navarre, then moved to Pensacola. I haven't been back in quite a while. Navarre, I hear, has changed soo much. Yanks moving in I suppose. I remember when there was nothing there. Cordova mall used to be a garbage dump.
oh wow this brings back memories. I lived in pensacola for a few years in the 80s when I was a kid. I lived off of mobile highway on oakland ave if I remember right.
sacred heart moved to the "top of the hill" in 1965. The mall built on a wooded area in 1971 as that whole area was developing. Because of PJC and the airport that area was considered high traffic for a mall. Penscola's first mall.
It was still years before developement expanded along Brent/Bayou blvd though.
that was my home town also i went back home this past weekend and that old gas station that was on the corner of 9th and bayou is now a shoping plaza. Pensacola is really coming up.
